Gia Medlock | 2029 Guard | Grace Prep Academy
Player Spotlight: Gia Medlock — A Rising Star in the Class of 2029
When it comes to identifying future stars early, Gia Medlock has already made her case. A 2029 guard from Grace Prep Academy, Gia put her name on the map at the Jeremiah Green Invitational, showing that she’s not just talented for her age, she’s ahead of the curve.
Gia possesses the physical tools and the basketball IQ that immediately stand out. In transition, she makes high-level reads that most upperclassmen struggle with. She’s tough, explosive when attacking downhill, and nearly impossible to contain once she gains a step on her defender. Whether navigating traffic or finishing through contact, she uses her body with precision far beyond her years.
But Medlock isn’t just a slasher, she’s a true three-level scorer. She showed her ability to knock down shots from deep, hit smooth midrange pull-ups, and finish creatively at the rim. The confidence and feel she plays with are rare for a freshman, and her performance over the weekend made it clear: she’s one of the top young prospects in Texas.
With that said, like all great players, there’s still room to grow, and that’s what makes Gia so exciting. The next step in her development is learning to control the tempo of the game and grow into the role of a true floor general. She already knows how to create her own shot and break down defenders. Now it’s about becoming more vocal, leading her team with her voice as well as her play, and mastering the art of pacing.
For a young guard, that comes with time. But Gia Medlock has the foundation, the mindset, and the skill set to become one of the elite guards in her class. She’s one to watch closely as her high school journey begins.
Expect big things from Grace Prep Academy’s freshman phenom, and don’t be surprised if you see her name rise on national radars very soon.
