Madison McGhie | 2026 Guard | Denton Guyer
Player Spotlight: Madison McGhie — Poised, Polished, and Primed for a Big Year
There’s something special about guards who play with total control. Madison McGhie, a 2026 guard from Denton Guyer High School, embodies that quality every time she steps on the court. At the Jeremiah Green Invitational, McGhie showed why she’s not just a good player she’s a difference-maker.
Madison plays at her own pace. No matter the pressure, you can’t rush her. She’s poised, crafty, and surgical in how she breaks down defenses. Whether she’s weaving through traffic or reading secondary defenders, she finds her spots and creates high-quality looks not just for herself, but for her teammates.
What stands out most is her decision-making. She’s unselfish, consistently making the right play instead of forcing the action. Madison is a true three-level scorer comfortable behind the arc, confident in the midrange, and strong enough to finish at the rim. Her offensive game is well-rounded and mature.
But Madison’s impact goes beyond scoring. She’s emerging as a leader directing traffic, communicating with teammates, and stepping into that floor general role. Her ability to rebound from the guard spot, push the break, and advance the ball rather than over-dribble — shows just how fundamentally sound and team-oriented she is. It’s rare. And it’s effective.
Heading into her senior year, Madison is poised to lead Denton Guyer on another deep playoff run. She has all the tools and the mindset to do it.
As for the next step in her evolution? Becoming more tenacious as an on-ball defender. She already understands rotations, positioning, and how to jump passing lanes. But applying more consistent pressure on the perimeter, challenging opposing guards outside the three-point line, would take her game to the next level. And given her basketball IQ and instincts, there’s little doubt she’ll rise to that challenge.
Madison McGhie is a name Texas basketball fans and college coaches should keep on their radar. The growth she’s shown already is impressive, and the ceiling is still high. I’m excited to continue tracking her as she leads Guyer into what promises to be a standout season.
